Helsingin uutiset: HIM sparkled in Tampere 
- very positive, the band is in great shape
- hits from the start till the end
- only little new material
- songs from different albums fit well together and managed to sound fresh
- band had fun on stage and that passed on the audience too

Aamulehti: After years of waiting HIM arrived to Tampere - how was it?
- overall positive but has some nitpicking too
- "lots of pretty ladies in the audience but also men, which is a good sign" (wtf that's supposed to mean?)
- not the best gig ever, but the band's playing was energetic and sounds were heavy
- problems with mixing. At first Ville's voice and Burton's keyboards were a bit muffled, though the situation got slightly better when the gig progressed. The mixing was a particular problem in songs like It's All Tears where the magic comes from Ville using both ends of his vocal range
- Gas was of course true to his name, but Migé was even better
- Linde knows his lower frequencies
- Ville was very professional but tight-lipped, even reserved
- only little new songs, nothing from Screamworks
- mentions some songs that worked really well, for example Wicked Game, which "defined love metal when HIM started out and is still played impressively with Sabbath-like bridge"

I myself only went to Tampere, because I'm lazy and poor and didn't get a ticket for Helsinki. And of course I happened to have an awful migraine and spent the whole night shaking and trying not to faint or vomit. And due this I had to watch the gig literally from the row 666. But I still enjoyed it! One of the best HIM shows that I have seen. True, there might have been some mixing issues, but aren't there almost in all rock gigs. It wasn't severe so I wasn't really bothered. And it's also true that Ville didn't speak much but I didn't think he was reserved. He did have a wide grin and he complimented the audience on several occasions. And as much as I love Ville talking, I still have to say that it's better the less he rambles between the songs.

And I have to mention that I loved Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät. I know they were maybe a bit confusing for non-Finnish speakers but I'm still happy HIM had them as a supporting act.

Ville Valo: "We go from a crisis to a crisis"

Ville Valo reveals to Iltasanomat why the band decided to do a mini-tour before their traditional New Year's gig.

Everything seems to be as it used to be: HIM gathers its international fan base to Helsinki for the New Yer's Eve.

But something has changed: this year HIM's festival hops into a tour bus and as of today Helldone will be experienced around Finland.

- We wanted to do something differently than before. And we haven't toured Finland in a while. So now will get both things done at once, says Ville Valo.

From Oulu HIM travels via Seinäjoki and Tampere to Helsinki, where the band has their traditional New Year's gig at Tavastia club. As a supporting band HIM has Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät.

Helldone will be a grand ending for HIM's two-folded year.

The spring was about fighting against bad luck and troubles.

Firstly the album 'Tears On Tape' came out and it received great reviews in several publications, including in Guardian (4/5) and Metal Hammer (9/10).

But the album struggled to sell and it didn't produced any massive radio hits.

Album sales were supposed to be getting a push from May's tour in North America, but Valo's heath failed. At first the band had to cancel gigs in Los Angeles and San Francisco due the singer's flu-like symptoms. But as the illness developed into a pneumonia, they had to cancel the whole tour.

After a sick leave summer's 12 festival gigs in Finland and in rest of the Europe went well.

But compared to all the fuss and hullabaloo in the past, the band kept a low profile and concentrated in playing the gigs.

- As I grow older, I have noticed it's easier to concentrate in one thing at a time and not try to do all at once, Valo, 37, says.

- The results are better. I try to do one thing well rather than five things passably.

During the interview Valo mentioned ageing so many times that one could think he has an age crisis. But he hasn't, he ensures.

- Bags under the eyes are growing, but the jokes are the same. (I'm) going from crisis to crisis. It has nothing to do with numbers, the age.

The band's age/aging can be seen in people who come to the gigs. Valo says that it isn't only one generation who comes.

- In many places we're for the first time seeing people, who found us during the era of Razorblade Romance, bring their children with them. For example in Hamburg the audience was between 14-65 years old. That's great, says Valo.

Helldone has its own chapter in the history on HIM. They did play last year, but before that the festival was suspended for a couple of years.

- It felt weird when someone else was playing at "our spot". We became jealous of Tavastia, Valo laughs.

- But then we thought it was a good thing to have a break. A tradition can turn against itself.
And this year Helldone spreads north from Helsinki.

- We didn't have anything better to do. Touring is a good way to digest all the casseroles eaten during the Christmas.

I was at the Concert in Leipzig on 11. October and lucky enough to get into the fourth row so I had a pretty good view at the stage They were full of energy there, too and did a really great show
In Leipzig Ville drank Jever - a pretty well known german beer brand, that always comes in green bottles and is also exported as far as I know so it should be the same you saw.
